The village coach is running late today, and nobody seems to mind. The farmer is bringing his flock down the lane with two sheepdogs keeping order, so the driver of the red-and-cream bus has pulled up to wait while the sheep take their time. Down by the river two boys are fishing, a horse stops for a drink and a string of pheasants clatters up out of the trees.
It's a Steve Crisp summer's day through and through, with thatched cottages, hollyhocks by the gate and neighbours chatting on the doorstep. Finished size 68 x 49cm.
Lots of distinct, well-separated areas (the red bus, sheep, cottages and flower borders) help, while the leafy trees and cloud-filled sky share similar greens and blues.
