An old world map, tinted country by country, with the route of Thomas Stevens drawn right around it — the man who rode a penny-farthing across the globe between 1884 and 1886, thirteen and a half thousand miles of it.
Little framed scenes ring the map and show you how it went: camels and pyramids, a sailing ship, a steamer, horsemen coming out to look at him, and dogs giving chase. He is wearing a cap and pedalling on regardless.
Densely packed vintage map with many small text labels, decorative vignettes around the border, and varied colour regions requiring careful sorting.
