Klimt's woman stands in profile against a wall of golden spirals, one hand raised, her robe a riot of triangles and little coloured squares. She is waiting for somebody, and she has clearly been waiting a while.
Gold runs right to every edge, those spirals turning and turning across the whole picture. A striking thing to have finished on the table in front of you.
The repetitive spiral patterns and predominantly gold-brown colour scheme with similar tones throughout make piece identification very challenging.
