The river is barely up to their knees, so the children are in it. One boy has a net and a very serious expression, a girl has waded out after a red and white football, and over on the far side another lad is working his net along the edge of the bridge.
Honey-coloured cottages line the bank, the tea room has its parasols out, and a vintage green tourer sits parked by the wall where somebody left it. Painted by Terry Harrison.
