The lion is mid-roar, mouth wide, and the artist has built the whole animal out of flat triangles of colour — grey and rust through the mane, gold and green in the eyes, a deep red down the throat.
Stand back from it and the shards settle into a face, close up and it comes apart again into pure geometry. Either way he is looking straight at you, and he is not pleased!
