A polar bear swims through warm tropical water in Robert Bissell's 2016 painting, green kelp stems rising past it, shoals of small orange fish drifting through, and blue-and-yellow reef fish, white coral and a bare coral tree down on the sea floor.
The bear's white fur is one broad shape with little to grip on, while the kelp gives you long green lines to build along. Finished size 68.5 x 50.8cm.
The underwater scene has good colour variation with distinct elements like bamboo, coral, and fish providing helpful visual anchors.
