Nine of Edward Gorey's cats from Dancing Cats and Neglected Murderesses, each framed in its own panel on a lilac ground: one wearing moth wings, one cheerleading with pompoms, one balanced on a stool in a bowler hat, one juggling biscuits over a porch rail, one conducting in white tie, one skating with a long scarf streaming behind, and one perched on a great urn playing a flute. All of it is crosshatched pen and ink, tinted in soft greens, browns and greys.
Nine small pictures means nine small puzzles, so the only real work is the panel borders and the flat lilac between them. Finished size 68.6 x 45.7cm.
Grid layout with distinct bordered panels helps, but the detailed cross-hatching and similar muted tones across panels add moderate challenge.
