More than a hundred cats packed edge to edge with no floor, no wall and no sky behind them — ginger tabbies, black-and-white tuxedos, grey shorthairs, tortoiseshells and calicoes, a few wearing red collars with a bell. Every one is a proper portrait, painted face-on by the Austrian artist Ditz.

There is no background at all to build a frame around, so it comes down to sorting by coat: stripe direction, eye colour, the exact shade of ginger. Finished size 63.5 x 50.8cm.
