A traditional travelling fair in full swing, with a ornate carousel front and centre — painted horses, shell decorations, strings of lights — and crowds of families milling around it. A girl clutches candy floss, a golden retriever weaves between legs, and a Waltzers sign peeks out from behind a striped tent. Hot air balloons dot a blue summer sky above a ferris wheel in the distance.
Tony Ryan packs a lot into this scene without it feeling cluttered. There are prize-stall teddy bears stacked to the right, a candy floss kiosk mid-ground, and enough going on in the background to keep you busy well past the edges. The warm, painterly style means sorting by colour is satisfying rather than confusing — the rich reds and golds of the carousel give you a natural anchor to build from.
At 500 pieces, it's a comfortable weekend build with enough detail to keep things interesting throughout.
The scene has strong colour anchors in the carousel and striped tents, but the busy crowd, sky full of balloons, and varied mid-ground details create several tricky sections with similar tones.
