A figure sits alone by a blue canal, legs stretched out, facing the water and a row of small colourful houses beyond a wide green field. Trees with dark, loosely drawn outlines lean into a pale grey-blue sky, and a large red building fills the right edge of the frame. It has the feel of a warm afternoon with nothing particular happening — and that's the point.
Alex Pascual's style is expressive and a little raw, with bold outlines, flat blocks of colour, and the kind of loose mark-making that looks spontaneous but holds the composition together well. The greens, reds, and that vivid stripe of cyan water give you plenty to sort by, which keeps the build moving even in the busier areas of foliage and sky.
Part of Heye's Daily Life series, this is a 1000-piece puzzle and a good one for anyone who likes contemporary art that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Bold colour blocking and distinct sections make sorting straightforward, but the loosely rendered foliage, sky, and overlapping greens create some tricky mid-build areas with limited detail to differentiate.
