Over a hundred Art Nouveau ceramic tiles packed edge to edge — stylised tulips, irises, thistles and peacock feathers drawn in the flowing linework of the early 1900s. The glazes run through mossy green, ochre, dusky blue and terracotta, every little tile its own miniature design.
With 2000 pieces and so many close-toned, repeating motifs, the sorting is the real challenge here; the finished picture has the look of a tiled métro entrance or an old apothecary wall. A full-size poster is included to work from. Assembled size 98 x 69cm.
2000 pieces with many visually similar tiles and repeating floral motifs make the sorting slow going.
