A row of tall gabled houses stands shoulder to shoulder along the waterfront at Kaliningrad, red-tiled and painted in cream and ochre, with a white tower and its dark dome rising at the far end.
The end wall of the nearest building carries an enormous carved panel, and all along the railed promenade black cast-iron lamp posts hold up their clusters of glass globes. The water below is flat and green, the sky is cloudless, and a few people are out walking in the sun.
Detailed architectural facades with varied colours and textures, plus water reflections add moderate complexity.
