Two dozen bone-china cups and saucers set out on rumpled blue satin — copper lustre with grapes, black-and-white fluting, a pink shell-shaped cup, one painted with a castle inside a tartan band, another with a gilt portrait medallion. Sherrie Wolf paints every gold rim and every reflection in the cloth.
Each cup is distinct enough to place on sight; the satin between them is one blue broken only by folds and highlights. Finished size 68.6 x 50.8cm.
Many similarly shaped teacups on a uniform deep blue satin background make piece placement difficult despite the variety in china patterns.
