The storm has come in over the headland and the whole sky has gone to slate. A wave hits the foot of the cliff and goes straight up in a wall of white, and the sea below is churning itself into ropes of foam.
Up on the top the red and white lighthouse stands its ground beside a ruin of roofless gables and pointed arches, open to the weather now. Christian Ringer caught St Mathieu on exactly the right afternoon.
