A wall of shelves and glass cases stacked with things beginning with S: a full skeleton standing at the right, snowy owls, a sunflower, a chart of ship's signal flags, a sloth, a swordfish, a saxophone, a stag, a tank of striped fish, a blue saloon car, a stage with red curtains drawn back. Mike Wilks fitted 1,234 of them into one picture and supplied a key so you can check your count.
The dark timber shelving and brown shadow repeat right across the sheet, and everything is at thumbnail scale, so the small lit display cases are the way in. Finished size 68.6 x 50.8cm.
Incredibly dense scene with hundreds of tiny detailed objects crammed into shelves and spaces, with dark tones and minimal colour differentiation between areas.
