The lake has gone so still that the Dachstein is standing on its head in it — every crag, every patch of snow below the summit, the whole thing doubled and hanging upside down in the water without a ripple to spoil it.
Autumn is working its way down the slopes on either side, rust and copper creeping in among the dark firs, and one long cloud has caught on the peak and settled there for the evening.
Mirror-like reflection doubles the image making orientation tricky, but distinct mountain peaks and treeline provide good landmarks
