Fifteen watercolour studies of fungi on plain white, set out in a loose grid around a pair of fly agarics — scarlet caps flecked white, one tipped over to show the gills and the ragged ring on the stem. Round them sit chanterelles, a cep, a lilac wood blewit, honey fungus in a clump and a yellow-green russula, each with its own scatter of pine needles, moss and beech leaves.
The white ground is the difficulty: several hundred pieces carry no mark at all, so build the mushrooms first and ring them in afterwards. Finished size 50.8 x 63.5cm.
A large plain white background with no colour or detail to sort by.
