Let the Outside In by Greg “Craola” Simkins – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

A great horned owl with an antique clock face set into its brow perches on the antlers of a young grey deer, and Greg Simkins crowds everything else in around them: a white swan, a blue jay standing on an open book, a white rabbit in boots sitting on a stack of books, black silhouette hares holding a blue alphabet block lettered C, a tiger cub, a cat guarding an envelope with a red wax seal, and a red octopus sprawling in from the right edge.

It is all painted against a pale, almost featureless fog, and that fog is the work — the creatures are so distinct they practically sort themselves. Finished size 40.6 x 81.3cm.
