The cruise boat is in at the pier and half of Windermere seems to be on the front waiting for it. Two children have got to the ice cream cart first, a man kneels on the cobbles getting his kayaks ready, and a little white dog is straining at the lead to see what everyone is looking at.
Hot air balloons drift over the wooded fells behind, the Union flag is up over the ticket office, and yachts are out on the lake in the sunshine.
