Landmarks stack up into one postcard: the Statue of Liberty holds her torch up the centre, the Eiffel Tower and the Colosseum sit to her left, Big Ben, the Sphinx and the Taj Mahal to her right. Stonehenge and the Great Wall run along the skyline, Tokyo's neon hoardings fill the right edge, and POST CARD is franked over a pale blue sky in faded script.
Five thousand pieces, and the top third is mostly washed-out sky, postage stamps and a bare branch, so the landmarks go in first and the real work starts after. Clear a big table. Finished size 153 x 101cm.
5000 pieces over more than a metre and a half of table, with a large pale sky and repeated architectural detail; a multi-week build even for practised solvers.
