Utagawa Hiroshige – 500 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

A white cat sits on an upstairs windowsill with its back to the room, looking out through a wooden lattice at the Asakusa rice fields. Mount Fuji shows small and pale on the horizon under a band of sunset red, geese cross the sky in a thin line, and behind the cat a hairpin and a sheet of paper lie on green tatami with a blue-and-white cloth draped over the sill.

The lattice bars cut the view into narrow strips of near-matching sky, which is fiddlier than it looks. Finished size 45.7 x 68.6cm.
