If you've ever wished you could hold the whole of Shakespeare's world in your hands, this stunning Gibsons puzzle gets pretty close. At the centre sits a portrait of the great man himself, surrounded by a beautifully illustrated map-style collage that brings eight of his most celebrated plays to life — Macbeth, Othello, King Lear, Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet, The Tempest, Henry V and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Each play gets its own richly detailed scene, woven together by scrolling ribbon banners carrying famous quotes and titles. There's the brooding darkness of the witches' cauldron, the ethereal strangeness of the fairy wood, the stormy seas of The Tempest, and the tragic beauty of Romeo & Juliet — all rendered in a gorgeous, painterly illustration style with a rich, jewel-toned colour palette.
Shakespeare's Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's Cottage are tucked in amongst the scenes too, giving it a lovely sense of place and history.
This is a brilliant gift for anyone who loves literature, theatre, or simply a puzzle that gives you something genuinely interesting to look at while you're building it. At 1000 pieces, it's a satisfying challenge — just complex enough to keep you busy without becoming frustrating.
The image contains many small intricate scenes with rich, dark colour tones, dense foliage, detailed figures, and scrolling text banners throughout, making sorting and placing pieces particularly challenging.
