The Swimmer by Robert Bissell – 500 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

A brown bear stands upright on the seabed, wet fur hanging in strands, muzzle tipped up towards the light coming down through the water. Around it swim two dozen sockeye salmon, scarlet-bodied with green heads, and the pale sand runs out to grey rock and a sunken log. Robert Bissell painted it in 2010.

The bear and the salmon are straightforward; the graduated blue water and the empty sand between them are not. Finished size 61 x 45.7cm
