Bilbo sits at his desk by candlelight, quill in hand, writing in his book — and all around him, the scenes from his story swirl outward in a cascade of images. The Eye of Sauron, Gandalf on horseback, dark forests, fiery landscapes, and the faces of the Fellowship spiral away from the desk like pages caught in a wind. It's a clever conceit, and it works well as a puzzle image.
As a build, this one earns its difficulty. The central hobbit figure and the warm candlelit desk are easy enough to anchor, but the surrounding collage of scenes — many of them dark, smoky, and overlapping — will keep you busy. Lots of similar mid-tones in the outer sections, with fragments of scenes bleeding into one another. Sorting by the warmer firelit areas versus the cooler blue-green passages is the sensible approach.
1000 pieces. A solid pick for any Lord of the Rings fan, and satisfying to have framed once it's done.
The warm central figure is easy to place, but the surrounding collage contains many dark, overlapping scenes with subtle tonal shifts and fragmented imagery that offer very few distinct colour anchors.
