The tide has gone out and left behind everything it was carrying. Sea glass in every colour, worn pebbles, broken willow-pattern china rubbed smooth at the edges, a glass fishing float still sitting in its net, and lying across the sand in the middle of it a corked green bottle with a note rolled up inside. Who put that in the water, and how long ago?
Turquoise shallows run down one side and bleached driftwood up the other, and the shingle between them is a dense, jewel-bright challenge. Finished size 69 x 49cm
A dense repetitive shingle of small stones and sea glass with no landmarks.
