Kersti’s Birthday by Carl Larsson – 500 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Carl Larsson's watercolour of a birthday table set out in the garden: a row of girls crowded along a blue-painted bench in Swedish folk dress — white blouses, green bodices, red and black striped skirts, white caps and red hair ribbons — with a red earthenware jug and a blue-and-white cup on the cloth behind them. Orange poppies and cornflowers stand in a glass vase at the left, and a birch trunk rises straight through the middle of the scene.

Larsson leaves a great deal of pale, thinly washed paper — the bench, the grass, the tablecloth — and that is where the puzzle bites. Finished size 61 x 45.7cm.
