The old town hall at Bamberg, which somebody built on an island in the middle of the river because neither bank would have it. The half-timbered wing hangs out over the water on its piers, the painted tower stands up behind, and there are arched bridges either side with boats tied along the bank and a cafe umbrella on the near shore.
Timber framing and painted plaster over a broad stretch of still water. Finished size 69 x 48cm.
The river carries a full reflection, though the painted tower and timbering give strong landmarks.
