The drawing everybody knows, and it is stranger up close than in reproduction. A man stands with his arms and legs set out twice over so he fits both a circle and a square, the second pair of limbs sketched in beside the first, and Leonardo's mirror-written notes fill the paper above and below in that small even hand of his.
Fine brown ink on aged paper, and the paper is most of the picture. Finished size 48 x 69cm.
Nearly the whole sheet is plain aged paper, with only fine ink line and handwriting to sort by.
