If you've ever wondered what a Women's Institute meeting would look like if cats were in charge, Linda Jane Smith has your answer — and it is gloriously chaotic. Catsfield WI is the 20th entry in the iconic Crazy Cats Vintage series, and it absolutely doesn't disappoint.
The village hall is packed with moggies of every stripe — quite literally. There's a speaker at the front holding forth on the very important topic of how to catch a mouse, bunting strung from the rafters, cakes on the table, yarn rolling across the floor, and cats on windowsills, chairs, and presumably under the table too. The signage and hand-written notices dotted around the room are full of tiny details that reward a second (and third) look.
Linda Jane Smith works in a Pointillist style using designer gouache, and the depth of detail she packs into every corner is remarkable. This is the kind of puzzle where you're still spotting something new even when you're nearly done — a little cat tucked in the corner, a cheeky notice on the wall, a biscuit left unattended on the edge of a plate.
A brilliant build for cat lovers, WI fans, or anyone who appreciates artwork with genuine warmth and a very British sense of humour. Finished size is 70 x 50cm — frameable too, if you can bear to put it away.
The image is densely packed with dozens of individually detailed cats, busy background elements, hand-written signs, and a warm, closely matched earthy colour palette throughout, making it difficult to isolate distinct sorting zones.
