Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady: Summer by Edith Holden - 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Cobble Hill)

Every bird, bloom and butterfly on this box is labelled in neat handwriting, just as Edith Holden noted them in her original nature diary. Swallows dart across the top of the scene, a nest of pale eggs sits centre-page, and the border is thick with dog roses, honeysuckle, thistles and a scattering of peacock and red admiral butterflies.

It's a busy, detailed piece of work, closer to a field guide than a painting, so expect plenty of small similar-sized pieces among the foliage. The soft cream background helps though, giving you a calm base to build the flowers and insects onto once you've got your edges sorted.

A nice one to have on the table over a few sittings, especially if you like taking your time over the little details rather than rushing for the big picture.
