Someone has left a present box unattended and eight kittens have moved in. A tabby and a ginger peer out from the torn wrapping paper, ribbon trails across the floorboards, and a fluffy white one has flattened itself into a sheepskin rug near the fire. Behind them the tree is strung with candy-cane bows and an old wooden bird ornament, while a red stocking with a black cat on it hangs from the mantel.

The rocking chair holds one more kitten, tucked in beside a tartan blanket and a Santa hat that's slipped half off the seat. The fire itself is the trickiest part of this build, all orange and gold glow, but the kittens' faces are distinct enough to give you a foothold as you go.
