A great elephant comes straight out of the long golden grass towards you, ears spread wide and tusks catching the last of the sun, with her calf tucked in tight against her front legs where nothing can get at him. Neither of them is in any hurry.
Out on the plain behind, giraffes browse the thorn trees and zebras graze in the heat haze, while a ribbon of birds pours up into a sky turning from orange to deep blue.
