Count the birds before you even start and you'll lose track. There's a woodpecker working the base of the birdbath, a bluebird perched low among the coneflowers, goldfinches lined up along the rim, and a robin about to take the plunge. A couple of butterflies drift through for good measure, and everything is set against a white picket fence dressed in phlox and black-eyed susans.
It's the sort of image that looks simple from across the room but turns into proper work once the box is open. Feathers in a dozen close shades, dozens of small flower heads, and greenery that shifts from bright lime to deep shadow all need sorting before you get anywhere near the fence line or sky. The birdbath itself, pale stone against all that colour, is the one solid place to anchor your build.
A poster's included, which is handy for this one given how many small birds and blooms need placing correctly.
Dense flowers and dozens of similarly coloured feathers and leaves make sorting tricky despite the clear birdbath focal point.
