Somebody left the book open on the table, and the story has climbed straight out of it. Two dragons have taken the top edge for themselves, a princess in yellow is handing flowers to a pair of children on the left-hand page, and over on the right a wizard is deep in conversation with a fairy and a very small dragon. A whole village and its river run across the paper between them, and the tea beside it all has gone quite cold.
Warm library light, a wall of books behind and a thousand loose blossoms across the table — the flowers are where the hours go. Finished size 69 x 48cm.
The scattered blossom around the table repeats in every direction, though the open book and the figures give you a strong centre to build out from.
