Horseshoe Bend - Colorado River by Glen Canyon – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Schmidt)

The river has spent a long time thinking about this one. It comes in from the left, swings the whole way round an enormous block of red sandstone and heads back out again, and from up on the rim you can see the entire loop at once.

The sun sits right down on the horizon in a burst of gold spokes, with a bank of purple storm cloud stacked up behind it. Look along the left-hand edge, there is somebody standing up there taking it all in.
