A black bear has brought her two cubs down to the fallen log by the water, and they have found it far more interesting than she intended! One is already up and over the top, the other is picking its way along the trunk with its nose down, and neither is in a hurry.
Mum stands behind them and looks straight out at you, quite calm about the whole business. Tall pines all around, a pale boulder warm in the sun, and a blue stream running past behind them.
The dark bear fur blends with shadowed areas, but varied forest textures and the water provide helpful colour differentiation.
