You have wandered off the path and found a little painted beach house standing right where the grass gives way to sand. It has blue posts, red-fringed shutters and bright yellow crossed railings, and the palms behind it are leaning in to catch the sea breeze.
Out on the turquoise water, a rocky islet sits on the horizon under a wide blue sky. So do you knock on the door or head straight down to the water? This Martinique postcard view makes it a tough choice!
Bold flat colour blocks separate the sky, sea, beach house and foliage clearly, although the broad areas of blue sky and green planting hold fewer visual clues.
