A whole crowd of flamingos stands about in the shallows, necks curved over one another, every one a different pink — deep magenta at the back, dusty rose in the middle, and at the front one so pale she is nearly white, bending down to see what is going on under the surface.

Underneath them a little shoal of fish slips by, and dark blue leaves and red flowers come up across the bottom of the picture like a hedge!
