A jaguar stretched along a branch above a rainforest clearing, two ocelots lying in the grass below, a white egret at the water's edge and a toucan on a fallen log in the foreground. Charles Lynn Bragg hid dozens more in the leaves in 1991 — monkeys, an anteater, a tortoise, a red tree frog, owl butterflies — with red heliconias and pink hibiscus at the borders and lilies floating on the green pool.
The animals are the easy wins; the banks of banana leaf and undergrowth between them run to a dozen near-identical greens. Finished size 51 x 68cm.
Dominated by dense green foliage with many hidden animals throughout, making it extremely difficult to distinguish individual pieces.
