The square is knee-deep in tomatoes and the whole town is joining in. People are hurling handfuls from the balconies, a lorry has been abandoned halfway across and buried up to its windows, and somebody has launched a rubber dinghy into the middle of it all and is paddling about in the pulp.
The van Haasteren family are down there somewhere, thoroughly covered. Look out for the shark fin, and spare a thought for whoever has to hose the place down afterwards!
