A circular aquarium tank takes centre stage, its glass panels packed with sharks, rays, colourful reef fish, and a diver who looks like he's regretting his career choices. Above the waterline it's considerably worse — a whale has breached the top of the tank, a killer whale is making a bid for freedom, and somewhere in the chaos a lighthouse has appeared. Marino Degano fills every square centimetre with a new gag, and the more you look, the more you find.
Down at ground level, visitors queue at a Fish & Chips van, a stingray has wandered onto the path, and the aquarium entrance is doing a brisk trade despite what's clearly going on inside. The cartoon style is loose and energetic — lots of tiny figures, exaggerated expressions, and background details that reward a second pass through the image.
Part of Heye's Funky Zoo series, this is a genuinely busy build. The underwater section has huge variety but plenty of similarly-toned blue-green areas, so it'll keep you occupied for a good while.
Extremely busy cartoon scene with hundreds of tiny figures, large areas of similarly toned blue-green water, and highly repetitive detail throughout both the underwater and crowd sections make sorting and placing pieces very challenging.
