She stands with her glass raised, holding it just high enough to catch the light, with vine leaves and ripe grapes threaded through her dark hair. Behind her a great mosaic disc glows in green and gold like a rose window, and her gown falls in amber folds with a red sash spilling all the way to the floor.
Every inch is worked: the jewelled collar, the beaded panels running down her front, the leaf ornament framing the whole panel. This is Mucha at his most lavish!
