Game Components

  • 1 game board
  • 4-5 playing pieces
  • 3-4 colored ticket boards
  • 1 black ticket
  • 1 double-move ticket
  • 1 travel log with cover and paper inserts for Mister X
  • 1 Mister X visor
  • Pencil (not included)

Game Objective
If Mr. X manages to avoid capture for 13 rounds, Mr. X wins. Detectives must land on the same station as Mr. X to win the game.

Game Setup

  1. Determine who will play as Mr. X. This player should be experienced, as the role requires nerves of steel.
  2. Place the game board on the table so that Mr. X can see all the numbers without standing.
  3. Distribute the game components to Mr. X and the detectives.

Playing the Game

  1. The game consists of 13 rounds, with Mr. X moving first, followed by the detectives in any order.
  2. Mr. X and all detectives move to a new station on each turn.
  3. The colors on the stations indicate which means of transportation can be used. In the beginner version, only taxi (yellow) and bus (turquoise) routes are used.
  4. Playing pieces can only be moved to unoccupied stations, except when a detective lands on Mr. X's station, in which case the detectives win.
  5. Mr. X disappears at regular intervals (before the 3rd, 8th, and 13th moves) by removing the transparent playing piece from the game board and writing down a secret destination in the travel log.
  6. Mr. X has special tickets (black ticket and double-move ticket) that can be used to make additional invisible moves or to take two moves in a single turn.

End of Game
The game ends when either:

  1. A detective lands on the same station as Mr. X, or
  2. Mr. X has no free stations to move to (all possible stations are blocked by detectives).

In both cases, the detectives win. If Mr. X manages to evade capture for 13 rounds, Mr. X wins the game.
