Description

As influential Roman patricians, you set out to improve your garden districts. Grow bountiful gardens. Cultivate ponds rich with fish. Build lavish villas and various other dwellings for your servants. The day is yours to seize and the city ripe for rebuilding! A sophisticated and intriguing tile-laying game with high replay value thanks to its variable gameplay.

How to Play

Welcome to Rome 1 B.C., where you, as influential patricians, will work to improve your city districts. Construct profitable buildings, beautiful landscapes, and ensure prosperity for your part of the city. The player with the most victory points at the end of the game wins.

Game Overview

Display More
  • The game consists of 4 phases with 7 rounds each, followed by a scoring period.
  • Players take turns selecting building tiles and adding them to their districts.
  • After 7 rounds, all 28 building tiles will be picked, and the phase ends.
  • The game ends after the 4th phase, with a final scoring period.

Turn Sequence

  1. Move your meeple to one of the opposite semi-circular spaces, connected by black lines.
  2. Pick a building tile from the adjacent blueprint space and add it to your district.
  3. Follow the building rules (see "Building Rules" below).

Building Rules

  • First tile must be placed on the shovel space.
  • All subsequent tiles must be placed adjacent (not diagonally) to an existing tile.
  • Tiles must be placed to match all adjacent sides (e.g., pond to pond, grass to grass).
  • The frame counts as 'grass' and can only have grass sides adjacent to it.
  • Remove banderoles when placing a tile on a space with one, and move your disc one space on the banderole bar.

Scoring

  • After each phase, scoring occurs.
  • Completed buildings and landscapes yield rewards and contribute to victory points.
  • Final scoring includes: villas, remaining items, banderole bar, fountain cards, and frame achievements.

End of the Game

  • The player with the most victory points wins.
  • Ties are broken in favor of the player who is last on the banderole bar.
