Lofoten: A Game of Viking Strategy and Exploration

Venture into the breathtaking Lofoten archipelago, a significant Viking territory in the past. As Vikings, you must adapt to various situations, taking on roles as peaceful settlers, skilled builders, fierce invaders, or savvy merchants. With your fleet of longships, you are determined to make the most of the four essential goods and become the most powerful Jarl of the archipelago.

Goal of the Game: In Lofoten, your objective is to load merchandise from the market onto your longships and bring it back to your clan. Each type of merchandise has its unique scoring system, granting you an advantage over the opposing Jarl. To become the most powerful Jarl in the archipelago, you must earn more Power Points (PP) than your opponent in the final scoring, regardless of the situation.

Lofoten is an innovative two-player game featuring dynamic card hand management and a rotating board. Immerse yourself in the world of Viking strategy and exploration, and prove your worth as the most powerful Jarl in the stunning Lofoten archipelago.

How to Play

In Lofoten, players compete to become the most powerful Jarl in the archipelago by loading and unloading merchandise from the market onto their longships and bringing them back to their clan. The game ends when there are not enough Merchandise tiles to refill the Market board, and the player with the most Power Points (PP) wins.

During each turn, players will go through three phases:

Display More
  1. Draw Phase: Draw an Order card and place it either to the left or right end of your hand, without changing the order of the other two cards.
  2. Action Phase: Play an Order card from your hand. Depending on the card's position, you can perform different actions:
    a. Middle card: Place an order in the docked longship.
    b. Left or Right card: Perform movements with your fleet (horizontally or rotating).
  3. Maintenance Phase: Refill the market by placing Merchandise tiles on empty spaces until all spaces are occupied.

In addition to the main phases, there are two automatic actions that occur immediately if certain conditions are met:
a. Load a longship: If a longship is directly facing a Merchandise tile, has an Order card with the same color as the tile, and has not been loaded with another Merchandise tile, load the longship by placing the Merchandise tile on the Order card.
b. Unload a longship: When a loaded longship becomes the bottom longship, unload it and store the Merchandise tile in a warehouse, discarding the Order card.

The game ends when there are not enough Merchandise tiles to refill the Market board. Each player can unload a Merchandise tile from one of their longships and add it to the appropriate warehouse. Then, players proceed to the final scoring, where they compare the amount of merchandise stored in the warehouses, and the player with the most PP wins the game.
